Another Commercial Acquisition For Swintons

John Williams - Tuesday 01.04.08, 10:03am

The Swinton Group, currently looking to strengthen its position in the commercial market, has acquired the Kent based independent broker Lawerences, to operate under its Swinton Business division.

Lawerences, established fifty years ago, brings a gross premium income of £6million and gives Swinton an extra push in reaching its goal of exceeding £150million gross premium income over the next three years.

Lawerences specialises in providing commercial insurance for the SME market and advises on health and safety matters. The directors and fifteen employees will continue to operate from the base in Sevenoaks, Kent.

Swinton chief executive Patrick Smith said: “Lawrences is a strong, well established broker and is the type of business we are looking to acquire in order to expand our commercial arm, Swinton Business. ”

“Last year we acquired a record 45 brokers including three major commercial brokers Vectis, Rockford and Andinsure. The acquisition of Lawrences demonstrates that this growth strategy is set to continue through 2008.”

David Carey of Lawerences has said that the primary focus for him will be to maintain and develop their existing client relationships.
