It appears that Hastings Direct are unable to do any wrong at present, following a management buyout from the Insurance Australia Group earlier in the year, the management team have set upon an ambitious programme of expansion, despite the current economic climate.
Last month Hastings Direct acquired the Newmarket based Renew Insurance Services Ltd an insurer that specialises in the niche market of cover for over 40’s through it’s Renew brand, while offering similar cover to younger customers through the Likewise brand.
Hastings has also announced plans to bring (back) a presence on the high street with three outlets opened during a pilot phase. The company has recently taken on 150 new staff and is currently in the market for another 150.
Hastings Directs chief executive, Edward Fitzmaurice, says: “2009 has started off as a great year for us, particularly in light of the difficult economic climate – the company is really heading in the right direction. Our recent augmentation has meant that we need additional people to help grow the business and take Hastings Direct to the next level.”
