Kwik Fit Insurance are believed to be the first UK company to be able to offer its motor insurance customers online electronic documentation.
Kwik Fit have installed SDX, a secure electronic delivery solution, purchased from SSP, who specialise in IT solutions for the insurance and finance industries.
With growing concern over identity theft and fraud, software suppliers have been working on making a secure system for the insurance industry to issue certificates to its customers. The SDX system ensures that motor insurance certificates sent by e mail are safe from unauthorised access and have a full audit trail.
The move by Kwik Fit is in response to proposed legislation that will permit the secure electronic delivery of motor insurance certificates, expected to be introduced in 2009.
