Motorists caught using mobile telephones while driving, will get more than just a fine for breaking the law, they are also likely to end up paying more for their insurance as well.
The AA reports that seven out of eight insurers surveyed said that they would charge mobile phone offenders for their misdemeanour by increasing the premium between 4.2% and 18.1%.
The other insurer confirmed that they would not offer a quote at all.
Drivers who continue to use mobile phones at the wheel could also face charges of careless driving, an offence that could mean losing their licence and even higher insurance charges.
