Top Five Travel Claims For 2007

John Williams - Monday 17.03.08, 12:44pm

A report from IsureandGo, estimates that 1.74million claims were made to UK travel insurers, during last year, 2007.

More than half a million of those claims related to medical problems, with an overall value of £242.3million.

Not far behind comes lost or stolen luggage, with 430,00 estimated claims, with £35.14million being paid out to claimants.

Cancelled flights comes third in terms of number of claims, but second in terms of pay out, with estimates of 195,000 claims resulting in over £77million being paid out.

Travel delay cost insurers £4.7million, with around 123,000 claimants.

In fifth place on the chart, something I would have thought would be higher, is Lost or Stolen money. This category accounted for 115,00 claims, with insurers paying out £9.29million in compensation.
