Fortis has agreed to underwrite a stand alone travel insurance for business partner Alliance & Leicester.
The agreement will mean that the bank will be the first to offer its customers travel insurance via Fortis text message quotes.
Fortis has been working alongside Alliance and Leicester since 2004, making its products available to the banks current account holders. A new agreement was signed in 2007 and has enabled the insurers to put a new system in place for 2008, that will be available to all of the banks customers.
Text2Insure will allow Alliance & Leicester customers to obtain a quote and complete their transaction securely, including medical screening, online. Policy documents will also be provided online with the whole process estimated to take just a few minutes. The Text2Insure technology also allows for customers to receive an initial quote by SMS.
