Following the case of a pensioner being attacked and murdered in his own home for refusing to hand his car keys over to a scumbag 16 year old burglar, a police officer has suggested that the public should avoid hiding keys in their own homes, to avoid further violent clashes with similar low-life thieves who have broken the law by entering other peoples property.
While this an outrageous thing for a police officer to say, the sad truth is that he is probably right. Although the views are not endorsed officially by the Police, figures show that a staggering 50 people a day have their cars stolen by burglars who have ransacked their homes and drive away with the goods and the victims vehicle.
This is a crime that is not restricted to any particular part of the UK, it is a problem nationwide and increasing by the day and accounts for around 11% of the 170,000 cars reported stolen each year.

It’s also a good idea to move them away from your front door. Thieves with fishing rods have been taking keys through your letterbox using this method.
