Research by Pitney Bowes reveals that unnecessary printing of documents is costing the UK insurance industry a staggering £159million a year, with the same report showing that applied across Europe, printing documents more sparingly could save the market £693million.
Pitney Bowes Managing Director Richard Thompson also reveals that 75% of the business that his company deal with, have no strategy for dealing with document output, despite this being an area that has become a growing cost for businesses.
The survey also found that UK businesses in general, covering all sectors, are wasting as much as £2bn a year on document wastage, while the figure for Europe as a whole amounts to £11.6bn.
“We’ve found that even the smallest companies can achieve dramatic savings if they bring their printing and document production under tighter control.” says Thompson.
